Call Irv Higdon, in California. I just bought the same camera still in its box for a friend and Irv sent one up to me right away. His number is 1-800-318-3259. Tell him Adam sent you.

Dear super-8 filmakers,
I just figured out that the reason for my light meter not working on my Emdeko EM-8000 (made in Japan), is a separate small battery. I know that most of you on here are talking about expensive cameras, but please don't disregard this question. I baught this camera at a good will store for $3 in almost new condition, and it is all I have to work with until I can save up for a better one. I am a college student;so money is expensive.
the light meter battery is marked with a D+ on the back. I have not been able to find such a battery in stores. if I can find out the volage I think I can install a different size or shaped battery if I have to.
In the mean time I will also be looking for another cheap but better camera at thrift stores. I already have a projector.
about my previous inqweeries: I will be developing my film at Dwayn's , the ladyon the phone was reel nice. It looks like the cheapest and fastest.
god bless this forum

Nigel ,
thanks for the tip, I called Irv and he fixed me right up, he was very helpful on the phone.
If you got this same exact camera then maybe you can answer a few of my other ignorant questions;
there is no frames per second count only a fast and slow , do you know how fast this might be? Since no manual came with this camera I baught a book this weekend at a used bookstore called How to Make Good Home Movies by the editors of Eastman Kodak, They suggest 16 fps for normal shooting, Is that good?
What kind of remote can I plug in the socket, it's not threaded. ??
Thanks again! mr. now

Mr. Now--
I would think that "Normal" would be 18fps since that was the standard rate for Super8. I was wondering what the slowmotion would be as well. I think that it is somewhere around 32-36fps since that was the standard as well. I have a manual but it does not say. I got the camera at a thrift store and gave it to a friend. As for the remote I did test it using me remote for my Beaulieu and it worked great. What you need is an electronic remote and not a "rat-tail" since it is not for single frame shooting. If you have anymore questions, just ask I hope I can help.

Nigel.
the old book that I got talks about film in terms of the old outdated kodachrome II Type A regular 8mm or 16mm, nevertheless I have found some useful information in it. My questions now are ; how is the K-40 film different? On the net I have read that K-40 is 40 asa indoors and 25 asa outdoors. Do you think that my camera has a filter built in and what kind. How do I set the camera ISO for indoor and outdoor?
